Inbound Call Management


  • Inbound Rule Requirement: Every Direct-Inward Dialing (DID) number must have a specific inbound rule defined. If there is no call-handling rule for a DID, the call will be terminated.


Office Hours Configuration


  • Transition to Departments: With the upgrade to 3CX V20, all groups are converted into departments. It's necessary to set office hours for each department.
  • Assignments: After setting office hours for departments, it's crucial to assign users, IVR (Interactive Voice Responses), Ring Groups, and Call Queues to the appropriate department.
  • Department Assignments: If a department isn't assigned a call handling rule, the system defaults to always being in effect. Conversely, if a department doesn't have set hours, it's assumed to be closed, and calls will follow the out-of-office handling rules set for the department's IVR, queue, or ring group.
  • Call Routing: The set rules determine in-office call handling. Out-of-office handling is configured in the department's IVR, Ring Group, or Call Queue settings.
  • User-Specific Office Hours: Users can set personal office hours, which can override department settings. They can also be automatically logged in or out of queues based on these hours, although it's unclear if this affects all queues, including emergency ones.


3CX 4SC Standard License Changes for V20


  • Feature Limitations for Free Licenses: In Version 20, users with free licenses can no longer log calls and record greetings directly through the 3CX system.

These updates necessitate careful planning and configuration to ensure seamless call management and compliance with the new version's requirements.
