FCC 499 Regulation
The FCC 499 regulations are specifically concerned with the contributions to the Universal Service Fund. Telecommunications carriers and certain other providers of communication services are required to contribute to the fund based on their interstate and international revenues. These contributions help support the various programs under the USF, such as the Connect America Fund (CAF), Lifeline, Rural Health Care, and Schools and Libraries (E-rate) program.
The purpose of the FCC 499 regulations is to ensure fair and equitable contributions to the Universal Service Fund from all eligible providers, helping to bridge the digital divide and promote access to essential communication services for all Americans. Keep in mind that regulations and program details may change over time, so it’s important to refer to the most current information available on the FCC’s website or through other official sources to understand the specific requirements and implications of the FCC 499 regulations.
