At Voxtelesys, our commitment to innovation and reliability continues to drive the growth of our PIT1 data center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. PIT1 has undergone a significant expansion as a cornerstone of our operations, solidifying its role as a critical hub in our network infrastructure.

Here’s an update on how we’ve doubled down on power, performance, and connectivity to serve our customers and partners across the Eastern U.S., Canada, and Western Europe better.

Doubling Our Capacity

In response to increasing customer demand, we’ve added a second rack to PIT1, significantly enhancing our hosting capabilities. This expansion has also doubled the power available to our data center operations, ensuring we can handle larger workloads, support more clients, and maintain peak performance even under high demand.

This additional capacity is dedicated to expanding our Client Hosting Environment, delivering faster, more reliable services that meet the evolving needs of our clients.

Enhanced Connectivity: Lumen and Megaport Ashburn IX

Connectivity is at the heart of PIT1’s capabilities, and we’re excited to announce new partnerships and enhancements:

  • Lumen Uplinks: Lumen’s high-performance network is now part of PIT1, further improving our low-latency, high-speed connectivity.
  • Megaport Ashburn IX: With direct access to Megaport’s Ashburn Internet Exchange (IX), PIT1 now has an even greater reach to public cloud nodes, enabling faster and more efficient routing across the U.S. connectivity triangle of New York City, Ashburn, and New Hope.

These upgrades complement our existing connections, including Cogent Backhaul and Twelve99 Blended IP Uplinks, ensuring PIT1 remains a robust and reliable point of presence (POP) for edge connectivity.

Building a Future-Ready Data Center

Expanding PIT1 wasn’t just about adding hardware—it was about designing for scalability and resilience. Starting from scratch with our second rack allowed us to optimize cable management and ensure a clean, efficient setup.

Our continued reliance on Dell hardware reflects our commitment to transparency and performance. Dell’s robust Linux-compatible firmware and publicly available updates make their platforms an ideal choice for powering our operations.

With these upgrades, PIT1 is now poised to deliver unmatched reliability through our N+1 redundancy and ring topology, ensuring continuous service even in the event of component failures.

What This Means for Our Clients

  • Increased Hosting Resources: More capacity means more power and space dedicated to client workloads, ensuring we can support their growth without compromise.
  • Improved Connectivity: Enhanced uplinks and expanded IX access translate to faster speeds and reduced latency for critical applications.
  • Future-Proof Infrastructure: PIT1’s design ensures scalability and reliability, offering a platform that grows alongside our customers’ needs.

Looking Ahead

In less than a year, PIT1 has become a shining example of Voxtelesys’ commitment to growth and innovation. This expansion is not just a milestone—it’s a testament to the incredible progress we’ve made and our unwavering dedication to delivering cutting-edge communication and hosting solutions. Doubling our capacity and enhancing our connectivity is only the beginning.

With PIT1 as a pivotal asset in our ever-growing network, we are poised to support our customers across North America and Western Europe with unmatched reliability, speed, and scalability. As we continue to invest in and expand our capabilities, the future of data center technology is brighter than ever. Stay tuned—this is just the start of what’s to come! Contact us today!
