What is Direct Routing?
Direct Routing is one of two options Microsoft gives you for using Teams as a PBX. Direct Routing gives you the ability to connect Teams to your own SIP provider (like Voxtelesys), plus keep your own numbers. This means being able to take advantage of lower rates, more flexibility, and better support. The other is to use a Microsoft Calling Plan. These lean on the pricey side and are generally more limiting.
How does Direct Routing work? Direct Routing works by combining the Teams system to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) using two key parts: a Session Border Controller (SBC) and Voxtelesys SIP trunking.

Cloud-Hosted SBC
What is a Session Border Controller? An SBC makes sure data is transferred properly between different networks - as in Teams and Voxtelesys SIP trunking.
Our VoxSBC is hosted in our own cloud network and connected directly to your Teams system, or to Teams and your existing IP phone system (IP PBX). That means no on-premises SBC equipment or expertise required by our customers to set up and manage their own SBC. Our geo-redundant, carrier-grade network seamlessly supports all your Teams PSTN calling needs with pricing options to meet your business requirements.
